Iron Man

Superhero movie with a more grown-up edge. Its not laden with action just 3/4 excellent sequences. The most enjoyable scenes are in the lab with the Iron Man going through testing/evaluation. Witty dialogue - Downey is cool, Paltrow not so much but the role does not give her a lot of leverage. Nearly 4 star but not quite, it needed to spend time to setup the premise which took away from stand-alone rating. Scene is set for another set of movies - and I'll definitely go see the next one.

My spouse and I viewed this with our 10-year old son last Sunday. Adults enjoyed it, not so much the kid. I agree Paltrow was limited, but somewhat fun. R. Downey and T. Howard were a quirky pair and I enjoyed watching their characters play off each other. Bring on, "Next time baby!"gem at 18:48 - 11 May, 2008 said:
I would agree with the three star rating here. Enjoyable stuff and better than what I was anticipating. I had been unsure about whether Downey would pull off the Ironman role but was pleasantly surprised. Good ending too; it's def set up for Ironman 2.
