Atonement movie

I was disappointed by this film. It looked fabulous and the acting was good, especially Saoirse Ronan who plays a 13 year old who's lie dictates what happens to the main characters of Cecelia played by Keira Knightley and Robbie played by James McAvoy. I found the jumping narrative annoying. It felt like 2 movies wedged together. The first set in English country house around 1935 is more compelling and I felt the movie lost momentum when it progressed to the second world war section. Whilst the Dunkirk scene was impressive for its demonstration of the horrors of war, I felt it didn't really add much to the main story of the movie. In the end, I wasn't that concerned what happened to the characters which I may have done had more time been spent on them rather than war scenes.
