It'd be difficult to miss the Taste restaurant building on Wexford's Selskar Avenue, painted as it is in lime green, with pink highlights on its iron railings. Inside it's spacious with interesting mosaics and artwork on the walls, lots of attention to detail.
So how did the food compare? One of our party had passed by and checked out the menu during the summer, it seems that the choice has been reduced somewhat since then, not necessarily a bad thing. We were all famished after a tough day of relaxation in a nearby spa, which may have influenced our opinion of the starters. We couldn't find fault, all were delicious and executed so well, from my calamari with salsa and salad; the salad with black pudding, baby potatoes, and aioli; the portobello mushroom with goats cheese; and the bell pepper stuffed with, among other things, mozzarella.
For mains, two of us went for the 12oz rib-eye, one for the surf n turf, and one for the cod. The steaks were perfectly cooked and accompanied by wonderful home-made chunky chips (crispy on the outside, soft inside). The cod-eater found it very tasty but would have preferred the skin crispier. The surf n turf woman had no complaints (and wouldn't have been shy about it if she did).
Perhaps the least exceptional part of the meal was the dessert course. I went for the usual creme brulee, blueberry this time, yum. The verdict on the chocolate brownie was ok, but could've been better, and the promised crushed raspberries appeared to be a berry mix.
All told, maybe the menu had nothing overly original, but the savouries were excellent. For me a good test is often the salad leaves with a dish, here they were spot on, fresh and no frisee!

Sounds good. Must give it a try next time we're in Wexford. With ya on the "no frisee" in salad stance. Hate those leaves ;-)

Frisee is just a cheap, bitter filler in salads, yock. And definitely try the restaurant, lovely place.
