Whilst we knew we had the correct address we couldn't quite believe that Hotel was actually attached to very impressive and peaceful church. The Hotel is quite unlike any other Hotel we have ever stayed in as it was formerly a monastery and consequently has cloister-like rooms, at least ours was as it was in the further reaches of the hotel, access gained by an ever narrowing stairs. However the corridors leading to this were spacious in the extreme and had an atmosphere that didn't encourage noise. Room itself was clean and comfortable though I get the impression that there are better ones in the Hotel , apparently overlooking the vegetable garden are best. The staff were very welcoming, available and helpful throughout our stay. Dining was in dome-shaped cavern with exposed walls and food (breakfast) was buffet. No bar in Hotel but 'local' across piazza was very handy as were numerous eateries nearby of varying price ranges. A family run restaurant, located about 300m up the left side of VIA SANTE CROCE being a big favourite. The location has all the charm of traditional Rome without the normal bustle but that is just a walk, bus or metro away. All in all a unique and pleasant experience, we hope to return.
