This isn't a patch on the UK series mainly because they are desperate for conflict to improve the ratings. Having said that, this was a bloody good episode which warmed the cockles.
Finn McCool's is an Irish themed pub and restaurant in The Hamptons run by a retired cop, his two sons and his daughter-in-law. It was losing money hand over fist and all the blame seemed to be pointing to the chef son.
I'm getting a little tired of Ramsay faking puking. Once per series is enough, now it's just predictable. The food looked mediocre at worst. In fact, they should probably just move to Ireland, they'd make a fortune serving that crap. We had the usual Ramsay aggro with a cocky useless chef. Shouting, arguing, walk-outs etc. Father was in terrible financial trouble and unwilling to fire the son despite knowing he should.
And then the programme turned on a penny. The son came back with fire in his belly and a willingness to learn. The restaurant was revamped and a new simpler (as always) menu put in place. Ramsay gained respect for chef, chef gained respect for himself. The relaunch nearly fell apart due to the huge numbers but they pulled it all together and had a massively successful night. Hugs and tears.
I'm a sucker for a show like this. I particularly love the ones where the people show great heart and want to succeed but are just misdirected. It keeps your faith in humanity going. Compare that to the useless bitch in Paris that he had to deal with in another episode. Of course you need one of those every once in a while too. Speaking of which, why did they not tell us last week what had happened to Sebastians? And any chance they'll venture more than 70 miles from LAX or JFK for the last few episodes?

I am a huge fan of the UK show and I love Gordon Ramsey. The US series is good fun but very very cheesy ( not the dairy kind). I think the UK shows seemed more authentic but the US one seems pretty predictable. That Sebastian guy was a complete nut.. 723 gourmey flavour combinations.Jaysus.
