The Carlton is a very nice hotel - it's a little bit far out of the town, definitely not walking distance. The reception area and the restaurant are lovely with spectacular views, however the bar is a big let down. It's very closed in with tiny windows that you cannot see out of and totally lacks atmosphere. It's such a pity as the hotel itself is in such a pretty area and they could have done so much more with the bar.
We got upgraded to a suite and it was like an apartment - pure luxury!
Overall it's a nice hotel and I would definitely go back
