I have been waiting for this for an eternity after the shock of the Season 4 finale. Whilst it didn't disappoint, it was quite subdued until right at the end. Nooooooo Wilson, nooooo, stayyyyyyyyyy.
The story is set two months after the shocking death of Amber. House hasn't talked to Wilson since it happened. Wilson is just back but only to tender his resignation. Most of the episode revolves arounds everyone's attempts to make him stay.
The standard "what the hell is wrong with the patient" storyline took a back seat to the WIlson drama. And in fact it was less interesting than usual apart from the very cool light shining out through her intestine.
"Thirteen's" desperate attempts to figure out what was wrong, mixed with her own emotional trauma of dealing with Huntington's Chorea were a little overdone and I hope it doesn't become the main theme of this season.
Overall the writing was not as sparkly as usual and the black humour much less obvious. I hope they are not running out of energy since this is one of my favourite TV series of all time.
And please please please don't write Wilson out of it. The dynamic between him, House and Cuddy is the heart of the show.
