Griffin Evolve - Wireless Audio for your ipod

I know there are multitudes of products out there (indeed some of them reviewed here on this site) that turn your ipod/iphone into a mini home hifi setup - I have purchased several of them myself and I have been very pleased with the value vs quality balances I struck on each occasion - but recently I felt that I owed my ever increasing itunes collection a bit more respect and decided to upgrade. I was, I must admit, spurred on by an impending party at our house at which it would be imperative that my carefully selected party mix of tunes be audible throughout our modest abode, to entertain an eclectic bunch of guests. Neil Diamond must sit comfortably alongside Christina Aguilera if you see what I mean.

So after hours of arduous research i came up with a shortlist of features that were a 'must have' 1.Under €300 2.Wireless capability 3. Reliable Quality brand. 4. Funky looks 5. Wireless capability. 6. Wireless capability. The Griffin Evolve system (direct from Griffin or at an Apple store) ticked all 6 boxes with double underlined ticks.

This is a fantastic system that 4 months later has yet to lose it's initial out-of-the-box sense of 'wow' for me. I mean it's beautiful to look at, it's solid, shiny, sleek, and sounds fantastic. The main feature though that sets it apart in the rather crowded market for such devices is it's super wireless capability. The system comprises a base unit (with multi generation adapters) for your ipod and two base sections into which the gorgeous speakers/receivers gently nestle. Simply pick up the speaker or speakers and bring them anywhere within a hundred feet of the unit and with the remote control, again from up to100 feet away, control your music for up to 10 hours between charges (covers most parties I'd imagine) - Speakers/receivers are recharged by placing back on the base station. And, it gets better, you can buy as many individual speakers as add ons (with their own base charging units ) as you want - be aware that US systems operate on a different frequency than European ones.

Additional features include audio in and video/audio out - you can use it as a wireless surround sound system for your home cinema experience or, watch your ipod videos on your 50" TV!

If you are looking for more than a little extra from your ipod sound system, this is worth very serious consideration.
