Last Saturday and a Table for Two at Mio's - great feel to the place, open and airy, light and fresh.
The Mio Antipasto was shared betwen the two of us and was excellent; some interesting charcuterie with well balanced salad.
She had the Chicory, Pear, Walnut and Gorgonzolla Salad as a main course and I had the Moules Mariniere, and at herself's recommendation (having been before) we had two Hand-Cut Fries. The Salad was very good, great flavours; the Moules themselves were rather small and dry, but the Mariniere was delicious and not too salty.
The Fries were disappointing, and when asked why they were so different last time, we were told that these were from this year's crop of potatotes; well explained and accepted, although perhaps they should have indicated somehow - not sure how - that the quality depends on the season.
We didn't try the pizzas or pasta, but another day.
Liked the idea of all the wines being available by the glass and their wine preservation system seems to work well. Enjoyed the Greenstone Point Sauvignon Blanc and a not too sweet delightful Araldico Moscato Passito with their Orange Pannacotta. The Pannacota was much firmer than I woud have expected, but it went very well with the Mixed Berry Compote.
I wasn't supposed to see the bil, but doing some quick sums, I could see that it is well priced, won't break the bank, and has to be good addition to eating out in West Cork.

It's top of our list of local places to try next. Sounds like my kind of place.
