This Chilean Malbec from the Maipo Valley was a bit of a let down for me. I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would quite enjoy this wine, but the flavour profile felt a bit awkard and one dimensional for my tastes.
On the nose there is an interesting combination of blackberry jam, spicy oak characters, plums and passionfruit. The flavours on the palate are were things start to go wrong for me. The plummy flavours continue supported by some blackberries and blackcurrant's. Strong vanilla, cinnamon and minty flavours round out the wine over a medium length finish.
All in all I found this to be quite an average wine. The strong plum and sweet spicey flavours were just not to my likeing,
Available from Curious Wines Bandon for €10.
